Time to Reboot?
". . but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 40:31 NIV
Ah, year-end. . . a time for evaluation and reflection. The paradoxical time when projected encounters actual, planned meets executed. You started the year with honorable intentions: You planned to increase revenues or perhaps repeat last year's figures while working smarter and pursuing a more balanced life.
If you haven't met your year-end goals, don't torment yourself. There's still time. With two months left, you can approach outstanding business goals in the same manner you do your computer when it freezes. Wait!! Don't slam the keyboard against the desk. I meant "reboot" your system.
God's word highlights many instances where He allowed His people a "reboot" after failing tests or trials and not achieving goals He had set for them. This is totally applicable to us in the New Covenant as well. In fact, Jesus Himself is the lamb God sacrificed to bring us a new life. The Bible tells us are we are renewed day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16) Doesn't the same approach make sense for your business goals?
With this issue, we suggest techniques that may be useful in objectively re-assessing your original goals, identifying issues that have prevented or hindered their achievement and devising alternative ways to reach them. Of course, this requires creativity - or at least the courage to ask an authority for assistance - but, it is certainly doable.
Business Basics helps you adopt and focus on a mission that promotes success in every aspect of your business (and personal) life. Budget constraints are common at this time of year and cash flow is a challenge for most entrepreneurs, so we tossed in some insights on projecting cash flow. Check out last issue's 7 Principles of Finance for Believers for more advice. Personal Growth offers tips to help recoup your "bounce-back ability" and restore that faith-inspired "All Things are Possible" attitude that got you started in the first place.
May your business thrive with God at the helm.
